About Me

Hi! My name is Fernando Alvarez.

I'm a computer science student, currently studying at UDC , about to finish my degree. Right now, I am probably in Milan, Italy, enjoying the Erasmus experience in this final year of university.

Something More

I am an enthusiastic, creative person, the type of person who believes that almost anything can be fixed with hard work. I consider myself to have a fairly artistic side despite being an engineer. For a long time, I have been making video games as a hobby. I think it can be said that I have some experience, even though I have never managed to complete a major project, you can still check some of them down bellow.

Also, I enjoy other hobbies like graphic design, music composition, and, well, frontend development , as you can see on this page. I wouldn't call myself a master of any of these, but I enjoy creating things.

But. What are my

Skills?
:D

WattCheck

Wattcheck was the result of the HackUDC 2024, a hackathon where, along with three other teammates and a rollercoaster of emotions, we built a website that allows you to view your electricity consumption in a visually appealing way, along with some interesting statistics. We didn't win the grand prize, but the company Inditex©️ gave us a special mention for the good design of the website.

React

Next Learn

A collection of some small tools I made to learn Next.js, the page doesn't contain too much content and they are basic things. I hope to fill it with more tools in the future that can serve as inspiration for other programmers. Until then, I will continue improving my skills.

More soon

I have some more projects, some semi-complete and others in progress (there's always something cooking 😉), but I only want to showcase things here that I consider decent enough to show.

Stay tuned for new updates!

Hopper

This is currently my only "official" game, the only one I've released on a public store like the PlayStore, since it's an Android game. It's not a very complex game, but it was a way to experience publishing a game.

The game is simple: using a ball and an elastic rope, you have to overcome levels with dozens of different minigames to see how far you can get.

BOB

BOB is the name of the little test subject I created when I wanted to experiment with making an NPC with AI, although looking at the code now, I'm not sure how much we can really call it AI. Nonetheless, it's fun to watch him get up to eat and jump for apples. You can try a demo at the link below.

WebGL Games

A while ago, I tried to make online multiplayer games based on WebGL. Sadly, due to various obstacles that got in the way, I couldn't fully achieve this. Nevertheless, a few small minigames remain—if they can be called that—to pass the time.
